A former spouse to a real estate tycoon Hezekiah Kariuki Mwangi has been charged with publishing false information about him on TikTok.
Doris Wawira Githae is accused of going live and publishing videos on her verified TikTok account @wawirahadoc to wit “Kariuki wa Comfort Homes come and tell Kenyans the kind of land you are selling, you are selling grabbed public land with fake maps….” on her account.
The court heard that she knew the information to be false and calculated to discredit the reputation of Hezekiah Kariuki Mwangi, the Chief Executive Officer, of Comfort Homes.
Githae is alleged to have committed the offense on 3rd August 2024 at an unknown place in Kenya.
According to the charge sheet, Githae is accused of going and posting another video on TikTok on 9th August 2024.

The court heard that she published the video saying….” Kariuki wa comfort homes all your projects are on grabbed public land you are selling dumpsites to people most of your clients have lost money, property, and lives you are dealing with fake documents…..” information you knew to be false and calculated to discredit the reputation of the businessman.

She denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi.
While asking for lenient nail terms, the accused, through her advocate, told the court that the issue emanated from a children’s court case where she has sued the businessman over child maintenance.
Githae was released on a cash bail of Sh 30,000
