If the court papers are anything to go by, it’s now official that controversial Businessman Abass Badru Omuyoma is linked to a gold fraud involving millions.
Omuyoma, who is allegedly an employee at DSI Limited, has already been charged with obtaining USD 54550 (equivalent to Sh 7.1 million) from a foreigner by falsely pretending he could sell him 15 kilograms of gold…
His nickname is Mr. Yuri Sande Ismael if the charge sheet is something to go by.
At the Milimani courts where he appeared to take a plea, the controversial businessman appeared before Milimani senior principal magistrate Robison Ondieki where he denied obtaining USD 54550 (equivalent to Sh 7.1 million) from Yvan De Coninckby falsely pretending that he was in a position to procure 15 kilograms of gold.
In court, the prosecution alledges that that the accused person committed the offense on August 11, 2021, within Nairobi County while jointly with others not before the court.
Hon.Magistrate ordered that the case be heard on May 13 without further hitches.

Before that, Omuyoma’s case had been scheduled for a fresh hearing yesterday but it could not proceed since the prosecuting state counsel was not present. Also, the accused’s defense lawyer was not present.
Cases of Gold gold-related fraud have been on the rise in recent days. For instance, the DCI cautioned businessmen to be on high alert while dealing with people who purport to be Gold sellers and businessmen.
The DCI said in a statement early this year that gold-related syndicates have been on the rise, especially in recent days, and called for caution.
