A man accused of stealing over Sh 8 million belonging to Moi University Staff Welfare Association has been charged in court. Mr. David Michael Were Mukoye was accused of stealing Sh 8,343,000 from an account at the National Bank, Moi Avenue branch.

Mukoye is alleged to have committed the offense between 23rd May and 24th September 2018. The accused is also charged with resisting arrest on 4th October 2018 at Bazaar Plaza, Nairobi.

Mukoye is said to have willfully and unlawfully resisted arrest from Corporal Onyango Owade and Corporal Patrick Githinji. He denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi.

The prosecution opposed his release on bail since he had jumped bail leading to withdrawal of the matter. The magistrate directed the bail opposition application to be heard before the trial court
