Kimilili Member of Parliament, Didmus Wekesa Baraza Mutua has not yet paid a businesswoman the Sh 2 million he allegedly, defrauded and purportedly used to purchase a helicopter from Malaysia.
This is even after he failed to respond to our queries on his plans on how he was planning to repay the money he described as ‘a soft loan’.
Baraza’s case has raised a lot of public interest and raised questions about the ethical conduct of public officials. Experts are now warning Bungoma County Residents of viting him in as their Governor in 2027.
” He is a fraudster, this can be witnessed by the court cases we are witnessing, he first needs to respect women by paying the Sh2 million he owes a woman before seeking the governorship,” said a local leader.

Barasa who is the Member of Parliament for Kimilili has faced controversy in previous for instance, his crime related activities continue to tarnished his reputation, though he has managed to maintain his political position accidentally.
According to sources, Baraza approached a businesswoman for a Sh2 million loan, claiming it was needed as a facilitation fee for a business trip to Malaysia. Trusting his word, the businesswoman transferred the money to Baraza’s account.
The documents in our possession show that Baraza received the money and allegedly purchased a helicopter.
Upto date, the MP although he admitted that he took the said amount, he has completely refused to pay.
The evidence pointing to the purchase of a helicopter includes financial transactions and testimonies. This alleged fraud is not only a breach of trust but also raises serious legal and ethical questions.
