Honey Khatwani’s Wife

The high-stakes fraud investigation involving former OKI General Trading director Honey Khatwani has taken a dramatic turn, with law enforcement now seeking to arrest his wife, Poonam Khatwani, over her alleged involvement in the KSh 356 million embezzlement scandal.

Authorities have issued a warrant for Poonam’s arrest, and she is expected to be taken into custody imminently. Once apprehended, she will be detained at Parklands Police Station before being brought before the court on Monday for plea taking. This move signals a significant escalation in the ongoing probe, as detectives expand their focus to include potential accomplices in the financial scheme.

Sources close to the investigation suggest that Poonam may have been directly involved in the operation allegedly masterminded by her husband. Her looming arrest adds weight to suspicions of a broader conspiracy behind the massive theft, raising further questions about how many individuals may have played a part in defrauding the company.

Honey Khatwani was previously arraigned in June 2025 at the Milimani Law Courts, where he was charged with the theft of USD 2.78 million (approximately KSh 356 million) from OKI General Trading. The alleged offences occurred over a four-year period, from January 2020 to June 2024, during which prosecutors say Khatwani used his position as a company director to orchestrate the long-running financial deception.

Now, with his wife poised to join him in the dock, prosecutors appear committed to unmasking the full extent of the fraud network.

Also under scrutiny is Jayesh Soni, another individual tied to the case. Soni is believed to be a person of interest and could face arrest soon. Both he and Poonam were previously named as co-defendants alongside Honey Khatwani, although details about their specific roles have yet to be made public.

Poonam Khatwani’s expected court appearance on Monday will mark a pivotal moment in the unfolding case, as prosecutors formally present the charges and the court hears her plea.
