Police Officer Abdihakim Abdi Saman Placed on Interdiction Over Griveious Assault Charges

High-ranking rogue officer Abdihakim Abdi Samano from Mandera East Police Station who is facing grievous harm and assault charges has officially been placed on interdiction and removed from the duty roster pending the outcome of his case.

The case, now classified as a matter of public interest, is set for hearing on December 2, 2024.

This marks a critical juncture in the pursuit of justice for the victims who have endured both physical and emotional suffering.

The charges stem from an incident on May 11, 2024, where Saman allegedly assaulted 52-year-old Dahaba Noor Hillow, leaving her with a severe arm fracture, as corroborated by medical records and X-ray evidence.

The assault reportedly occurred during a response to complaints about vandalism on a family farm.

In addition to the grievous harm charge, Saman also faces a second count of assault for allegedly attacking Al Abdirahman Maalim at the same police station, causing actual bodily harm.

Despite the severity of the allegations, the officer was released on a Ksh 280,000 bond with surety during a court session on October 1, 2024 which sparked public outrage.

The family had previously expressed fear for their safety, citing intimidation and threats reportedly made by the officer following his arrest.

Victims and advocates have repeatedly called for thorough investigations and a fair trial, free from interference or intimidation.

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) which initially investigated the matter forwarded their findings to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) which resulted in the officer’s court appearance.

All eyes are now on the judicial process.

We will continue to provide updates on this case as developments unfold.
